ABOUT US
Eschenbach Tennis Club – More Than Just Tennis
Since 1956, the Eschenbach Tennis Club has been an integral part of city life—and today it is more modern, active, and diverse than ever. With around 150 members, the club is a vibrant gathering place for all generations: from ambitious players to families looking to enjoy their free time together.
Our facility features four well-maintained clay courts that provide ideal conditions for exciting matches and relaxed play from May through October. At the heart of the club is our cozy clubhouse, complete with a kitchen, bar, beverage machine, and modern restrooms. This isn’t just a place to play tennis—it’s a place to laugh, celebrate, and build community. Whether it’s summer evenings, club parties, Easter events, or Christmas celebrations: there’s always something going on here.
What makes the Eschenbach Tennis Club special? The sense of community. As a member-run club, we thrive on the commitment of every individual. Together, we maintain the facilities, organize events, and actively shape club life. The joint activities in the spring and fall, in particular, are not only important for our tennis operations but also provide genuine team-building experiences.
Whether you’re a beginner, returning to the sport, or a young talent—everyone is welcome here. The Eschenbach Tennis Club stands for sports, fun, and community in a relaxed atmosphere.
Come on by and become part of our team!

HISTORY
1955 – The Idea:
It all begins with a small group of tennis enthusiasts in Eschenbach. The vision: a tennis court of their own. Hans Hofmann makes the land available free of charge on a meadow behind the Hotel am See—laying the foundation for the club.
1956 – The Beginning:
The first tennis court is built entirely by hand. On May 14, 1956, the Eschenbach i.d.Opf. Tennis Club is officially founded. Ten members lay the foundation for club life.
The Early Years:
The club initially develops into a small, close-knit community with around 25 members. Over time, interest in tennis grows—and with it, the club.
Growth & Challenges:
More members also mean a greater need for space. However, building a second court at the original location is not feasible. A new solution is needed.
Move to Birschling:
With the support of the town of Eschenbach, the club decides on a new location at Birschling. An important step for the club’s future.
1970–1976 – Construction of the New Facility:
The new tennis facility is planned and built. By the end of 1976, the work is complete: The facility at Birschling is finished and put into operation.
Today:
What began with a great deal of volunteer effort is now an active tennis club with a vibrant social life and a strong sense of community.
